Minister warn of stern action against fuel station owners

Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has advised the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) officials to cancel the licenses of owners of fuel filling stations if they attempt to create an artificial shortage of fuel in the country.

He added that people were queuing up at fuel stations over a perceived ‘artificial’ fuel shortage.

Long queues were seen at several filling stations since last night. "Therefore, we urge people not to unnecessarily panic as there is no such shortage of fuel,” he added.

The Minster further said there is no fuel shortage and that distribution was ongoing as usual.
