A red alert warning for Cyclonic Storm “BUREVI” was isued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre.
According to the warning issued, "the cyclonic storm ‘ BUREVI’ over the south-west Bay of Bengal, lay centered near latitude 8.6°N and longitude 83.0°E, about 200 km east-southeast of Trincomalee at 0830 hrs today".
