Sussexians in Sussex College, Kegalle, have brought honour to Sussex by winning first ever STEM Tinkering Olympiad organized by the STEM Academy. 10 students qualified for International Level competition under junior, Intermediate and senior categories.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

STEM Olympiad is an international online competition platform in which students from grade five to 12 compete. Questions are prepared in line with the philosophy of STEM education.

Sussex mainly follows the local curriculum in English medium. The network encourages their students to explore knowledge in all the areas through internet and books. The teachers in Kegalle School are well aware and knowledgeable about how to train students for competitions and they always guide them to go for challenges. Therefore, the students are also risk takers and explorers of knowledge which helped them to win in this International Competition. Adithya Senevirathna, won the All Island First Place in Senior Category. This triumph further strengthens the winning spirit of the school.
