Shantha Senarath inducted as 40th President of OPA

Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) ceremonially inducted its 40th President, Eng. Shantha Senarath, at a ceremony held on March 26, at the GOLDEN ROSE Reception Hall at Boralesgamuwa.

Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana was the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor was the Past International Director of the Toastmasters International – USA, Arunasalam Balraj.

Eng. Senarath entered the University of Moratuwa for his engineering education in Electronics and Telecommunication engineering. Eng. Senarath is an engineer by profession with an Engineering Master’s Degree from the UK.

He is a founder member of the Engineering Council, Sri Lanka, established by Parliament Act No.4 of 2017, which is the sole regulatory body for the engineering profession of Sri Lanka.

His experience in the industry counts more than 40 yrs. He has served holding several key managerial positions in Public and Private sector organizations.

Eng. Senarath is a Toastmaster with the highest ranking DISTINGUISHED TOASTMASTER awarded by Toastmasters International – USA for Communication and Leadership excellence.

He has been an Office Bearer of OPA since 2011 in different Standing Committees and was the General Secretary of OPA in 2019.

As the incumbent President he plans to contribute to the Nationally Important Programs in a more effective manner with the help of the 16 Standing Committees of OPA in order to make OPA a force to reckon.

OPA is the apex body of 52 Professional Associations in Sri Lanka representing 32 diverse professions. The total membership currently exceeds 60,000.
