Suspect in custody allegedly linked to 2018 experimental bomb blast

Razik Raza who is currently in remand custody is allegedly linked to the experimental bomb blast in 2018 prior to the suicide attacks, Police have uncovered.

Raza is said to have provided the explosives and raw materials for the experimental blast to Mohamed Rilwan, the brother of Zaharan Hashim.Raza has been taken into the custody of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for questioning.

Rilvan was injured during the test in 2018.

Police were unable to reveal more details about the first explosion as Rilvan died in the Sainthamaruthu incident.

Razik Raza from Kattankudy, was arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday Terror Attacks by the Kalmunai Police a few months ago, and has been in remand custody at the Angunakolapelessa prison.

However, the Terrorism Investigation Division requested the court to hand over the suspect to their custody for further interrogation. Accordingly, the court granted permission and the suspect has been taken into the TID custody under a detention order.

The TID is conducting further investigations in this regard.
