Drones to keep tab on violation of movement restrictions

Police yesterday said that a surveillance mission was carried out in the Colombo City specially in residential apartments yesterday as police had information of congregation of people in the city.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the police have received information of residents in apartments conducting meetings in violation of quarantine laws.

He said police and intelligence services were alerted that the residents of Colombo City and suburbs violate quarantine rules and regulations.

DIG Rohana said that modern technology will be used to trace people violating travel restrictions in densely populated areas in the city specially residential apartments.

Drones will also be utilized in the areas where people congregate in violation of the quarantine law, he said.
