Dengue threat in Kalutara District

A number of villages in the Kalutara District are faced with the Dengue threat amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Several cases of dengue have been reported in the Agalawatte and Pnadura areas. Public Health Inspector of the Panadura Urban Council Sampath Moramudali is also reportedly suffering from dengue fever and was admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital.

The Health Authorities appealed the public to contact the Medical Officer of the nearest hospital or Govt Dispensary, if they show symptoms of high fever, body aches and have red patches on the body.

Most of the Public Health Inspectors are unable to visit the areas and conduct investigations in this regard because they are engaged in conducting PCR Tests for COVID-19 which has seen an alarming increase in the district.
