Two quacks visiting quarantined houses arrested

Kesbewa Police arrested two suspects for entering houses on quarantine claiming that they are treating the disease and engage in a racket of extorting money from them.

The Kesbewa Medical Officer of Health had lodged a complaint with the Kesbewa Police on Wednesday that a group of people had gone to the houses on quarantine in Kahapola in the Kesbewa Police Division and engaged in a racket claiming that they were treating the disease.

Kesbewa Police investigated and found that a group was running a Face Book page.

Two persons who had entered a house in this regard were arrested later. A van in which they had arrived was also seized.

The suspects had charged Rs. 12,500 for a treatment session.

The two suspects were to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Kesbewa police are investigating.
