Fishermen aboard capsized fishing vessel rescued

Naval personal brought ashore a group of fishermen who were aboard a fishing vessel, which capsized in the Southern seas on May 2.

The one-day fishing vessel has left the Mirissa Fishery Harbour on May 31 with four fishermen aboard had capsised in the adverse weather and rough seas about 40 nautical miles off Galle.

Another multi-day fishing trawler in the vicinity has rescued three fishermen and of them, one fisherman was in critical condition. Naval personnel promptly sailed on a Fast Attack Craft from the Southern Naval Command to the sea area and brought fishermen to the Galle Harbour.

They were subsequently rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, the Navy personnel are conducting a search operation to find the fishermen who went missing.
