All WHO-approved vaccines will be imported – Mass Media Minister

Minister of Mass Media and Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said that every vaccine recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be brought to Sri Lanka as soon as possible for the benefit of the people.

He said that despite the Opposition resorting to mudslinging from the beginning, the vaccination programme is being implemented successfully.

The Minister made this statement when he visited the Kundasale electorate on Thursday to inspect the implementation of the vaccination programme.

The Minister said that no country can get vaccines without Government intervention and some politicians in the North who made false statements in the past to mislead the people are doing the same today with regards to vaccine procurement.

Rambukwella said that the allowance of Rs. 5,000 will be given to 3.5 million families in the region and those who receive an allowance of Rs. 2000.00 due to old age, disability and health reasons will be given an increase of up to Rs. 5,000 this year.
