Selectors finalise 24-member SL squad for England tour

The National Cricket Selectors yesterday finalised the 24-member Sri Lanka Squad that would tour England for the limited overs series next week.

The National Selectors have included promising players Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kamil Mishara, Ashen Bandara and Praveen Jayawickrama in the squad.

The Sri Lanka Squad led by Kusal Janith Perera also includes uncapped players, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Ishan Jayaratne, Charith Asalanka and Shiran Fernando.

The Sri Lanka Squad is subject to approval from the Sports Minister.

Avishka Fernando, Oshada Fernando, Nuwan Pradeep and Kasun Rajitha have been recalled to national duties.

The Sri Lanka Team is scheduled to leave on June 8 and the England tour will commence on June 23.

Meanwhile, all five cricketers who went through the 2km fitness run yesterday ahead of the tour of England have passed the test successfully.

The fitness test was held at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Danushka Gunathilaka and Dhananjaya de Silva who failed the fitness test in Bangladesh were among the five players who did the tests after SLC gave them another opportunity to prove their fitness.

All-rounders Dhananjaya Lakshan, Ishan Jayaratne and paceman Nuwan Pradeep were the three other players who passed the fitness test.

The Sri Lanka Squad: Kusal Perera (Captain), Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Oshada Fernando, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Niroshan Dickwella, Dasun Shanaka, Chamika Karunaratne, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ramesh Mendis, Lakshan Sandakan, Akila Dananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, Isuru Udana, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Pradeep, Shiran Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Asitha Fernando and Ishan Jayaratne.

June 24: 2nd T20I at Cardiff
June 26: 3rd T20I at Southampton
June 29: 1st ODI at Durham
July 1: 2nd ODI at London
July 4: 3rd ODI at Bristol
