Women, Child Development, Pre-schools and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and School Services State Minister Piyal Nishantha De Silva called on Russian Ambassador in Colombo Yuri Materiy at the Embassy last week.
The State Minister discussed matters regarding the development of the school system, development of children and women in Sri Lanka and the progress of higher education in the country.
The State Minister made a request to the Russian Ambassador regarding the Sputnik Vaccine and the Ambassador said that following a discussion with the Russian Government, the Sri Lankan Government will receive the expected number of the vaccine in the near future.
The State Minister told the media that the bi-lateral discussion was ended very cordially and the long lasting, historical relationship between the two countries was strengthened through the meeting.
