Eight autopsies on COVID deaths at KTH

Post mortems on eight COVID deaths had been conducted on last Saturday, Karapitiya Teaching Hospital (KTH) Judicial Medical Office sources stated.

Of them, four had died at their residences, three at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and one at the COVID Treatment Centre at the Boossa Naval Base, the sources said.

Assistant Judicial Medical Officer Samadi Dandeniyaarachchi said that they died of COVID pneumonia.

The 81-year-old father of six who died at the COVID Medical Treatment Centre at the Boossa Naval Base was a resident of Panapitiya, Karandeniya. An 83-year-old mother of four from Tellambura, Nakiyadeniya had died at home. A 75-year-old woman from New Lane, Makuluwa and a woman from Gintota Maha-Hapugala had died at their residences. A resident of the Akmeemana Medical Officer of Health Division had died at home.

The deceased at the Karapitiya Teacfhing Hospital had been identified as a 44-year-old father of two of Kaduruduwa, Wanchawala, a 90-year-old resident of Kalegane, Galle and an 89-year-old woman from Milliduwa, Galle.
