Navy rescues 66 flood victims

The Navy has deployed 33 relief teams in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern Provinces for the people affected by the floods. They have rescued 66 more persons including children and women, affected by the floods in several areas in the Gampaha and Kalutara Districts and provided them relief.

Navy personnel rescued 61 persons including children and women in Ja-Ela in the Gampaha District. The troops provided relief and saved five more persons in Bulathsinhala in the Kalutara District. These 66 persons were shifted to safe locations.

The Navy has sent 33 teams to the flood-risk areas in the Gampaha, Kalutara, Colombo, Rathnapura, Galle, Matara and Puttalam Districts for flood relief operations.

Eleven more Naval relief teams are on standby as and when a need arises.
