Damith Tillekeratne, an old boy of Wimalabuddhi Kanishta Vidyalaya, Dangolla,Kandy is a fine soccer player and a marathon runner. 34 year old Damith started playing soccer at the age of 10 years at the Dangolla Playground as it was situated near his house. He was coached by Gamini Silva, a Playground Instructor attached to the Kandy Municipality.

He joined Sri Lanka Army in the year 2005 and started playing soccer under the coaching of M.Noordeen in 2007 and he was adjudged the Best player at the Inter Unit Soccer tournament. While playing for the Sri Lanka Army as a Mid Fielder Defender as well as a striker, he was selected to the Sri Lanka Football team under Rohan Ruwanthillake in 2011 and toured Singapore and his team mates were Kavinda Ishan, Pasul Rahuman and Chatura Gunaratne to name a few. Before joining the National Football team he toured Bangladesh with the Sri Lanka Army Soccer team.

He played for the Solid Sports Club,Anuradhapura at the Champion League tournament organized by the Football Federation and in the Year 2013 he represented Colombo Football Club at the same tournament. When he was playing for the Colombo Football Club, his team consisted of outstanding players like Faumy Mohideen and Fasal Nimran.

In the year 2018 he represented the Champion Hyline Football Club at the Kandy District Soccer tournament conducted by the Kandy District football Association. He represented the Central Province Soccer team from the year 2011 to 2019 captaining the team in 2016. He played for the Up-Country Lions team at the Champions League in 2014 and 2015.

As a Marathon Runner, he was placed first at the Marathon Race organized by the SL Army in 2010. At present he is serving as a Warrant Officer II, attached to the Military Intelligence Service Unit of the Army and he is thankful to Col.S.Padmanathan, Col. Udeni Herath and Col. Neville Attanayake of the Army for the support and guidance given to him in his sports activities.

Presently he is Running a Soccer Academy at his home town Dangolla free of charge.
