Shan Aniketh Samaradiwakara a cricketing star in the making

17 year old cricketer Samaradiwakara Mudiyanselage Shan Aniketh Samaradiwakara has brought honour and fame for his Alma Mater St. Anthony’s College Wattala. He was born on 17th April 2004 and initially admitted to Willesben International College Battaramulla in 2009 to Grade One and he did not represent his school in any game until 2017. His principal was Mr. Aloysius and his first class teacher was Isuru Aravinda. He is a right hand middle order bat and a left arm leg spinner and a safe fielder int any position.

His parents Shehan Sumudu and Inoka Darshani encouraged him to take up to cricket and in 2018 he came under their coaches M Fashyanise and D. Prasanna and his first year itself he was appointed as the under 15 Division Three captain and in five matches he scored 311 runs with three fifties and 17 scalps. Also he scored 100 runs against Subarathie Vidyalaya in his debut match.

To enhance his cricket their parents admitted him to the Nondescripts Cricket Academy and he came under Charith Liyanage and he played for four years and played in the Mercantile Tournaments and it was a fine exposure for him. Then in 2018 he joined St. Anthony’s College Wattala and playing for the under 15 team he scored 270 runs with two fifties and claimed 29 wickets with two five wicket hauls. But any how he was not selected for the Prima Cup and he got the opportunity to play for the Gampaha District Tournament.

He could not represent the school under 17 team due to the outbreak of Covid 19 but he played for the first eleven team in 2018/19 and played in four matches and scored 85 runs with four wickets in three matches and in the following year he made 116 runs in seven matches with 11 wickets. This year he played for the Inter School Limited Over Tournament in three matches and he scored 45 runs and bagged two wickets and they lost to Ananda College Colombo in the pre quarter finals.

His coaches were Safraz Farook and Harshana Silva and the Principal is Rev. Fr. Marl Fernando and the Master in Charge of Cricket is Rev. Fr. Nuwan Perera and he has another two years to play for his school.
