A children’s home at Kaluthavalai was isolated yesterday after 21 inmates tested positive for COVID-19. Isolation measures were taken after several children from the home were subjected to PCR tests at the Kaluwanchikudy Base Hospital, which they visited after developing fever.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in the Eastern Province are on the rise, with 168 people testing positive for the virus in the past 24 hours. Fifty-six cases were reported from Kalmunai, while 56 were reported from Batticaloa. Ampara reported 30 cases yesterday, while Trincomalee reported 26.
