Borella Police yesterday informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajinda Jayasuriya that the Judicial Medical report into the death of the 16 year old domestic aide at former Minister Rishard Bathiudeen’s house revealed she has been subject to sexual abuse for quite some time.
Police informed the court that the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) in his report has cited that she has been subject to sexual abuse for some time.
The Police also informed Court that investigations are in progress to ascertain whether she has been subject to rape before she came to the Minister’s house.
The child was admitted to Ward 72 of the Colombo National Hospital with severe burn injuries on July 03 and she succumbed to her injuries on July 15.
Police also informed that the samples collected by the Scene of Crime Officials (SOCO) after the death of the child have been referred to the Government Analyst for a report.
Police submitted the statements obtained from the mother and brother of the victim and Parliamentarian Rishard Bathiudeen’s uncle in connection with her death.
The Magistrate after considering the submissions made by the police ordered the police to hand over the body to the brother of the victim. Notices were issued to the family members of the victim and MP Rishard Bathiudeen to give evidence.
The child, a resident of Dayagama, has been brought to the Parliamentarian’s house in October last year.
