Fourteen year old Dinith Seniya Rajugamuwa, a fine up-and-coming cricketer of Dharmaraja College, Kandy who was admitted to the school from Grade One onwards and now he is in the Grade Ten class. Seniya started his cricket career under the coaching of Ananda Wijesekera the School coach and District Coach, Suresh Peiris in the year 2017 and under the coaching of Ravi Punchihewa in his Windies’ Cricket Academy at Matale. He practiced Cricket at the Academy on week-ends and represented the Cricket Academy in 2017 as a left hand top order batsman and scored 120 runs in four matches at the Cricket Carnival held in Colombo.

His highest score was an unbeaten knock of 41 runs and he was selected as an emerging cricket player and presented an award by Dinesh Chandimal, former Captain of Sri lanka Cricket team At Dharmaraja College, he developed his bowling skills as a left arm fast bowler in addition to his batting as a left hander and he was selected to the Under 13 ‘B’ team in 2018. He performed a good double to claim 3

wickets for 35 runs and scored 25 runs against St.Sylvesters’ College, Kandy at the under 13 Cricket tournament match organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association. Again in 2019 he showed vast improvement in Bowling at the Division One Under13 Cricket tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association. He claimed 4 wickets for 34 runs against St.Anns’ Kurunegala and bagged 3 for 30 runs against Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya, and 3 for 40 runs against Trinity college, Kandy.

As a Batsman his highest score was an unbeaten knock of 35 runs against Polonnaruwa Central and he scored an unbeaten knock of 25 runs against Jaffna College and this particular team was captained by Pulindu Perera who led the team to the final round and Seniya’s contribution helped the School immensely to achieve this feat.

In the year 2020, in September the Windies Cricket Academy organized a Cricket Carnival at the town of Ukuwela and Seniya scored 50 runs and 41 not out and as a bowler in two matches he bagged 10 wickets and he was adjudged the Best player of the tournament and he received this award from Lahiru Kumara, the fast bowler of Sri Lanka Cricket. team Seniya was selected to the Kandy District Under 15 Cricket Squad and he was appointed as the Captain of the Under 15 team of the School.

Seniya’s ambition is to be a Doctor of Medicine and to improve his cricketing ability and become a National Player.
