Sports Ministry donates Rs. 47 million for para athletes

The Sports Ministry made a donation of Rs. 47 million to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) to develop the overall performance of Sri Lankan para athletes in the country.

Sports Ministry Director General (DG) Amal Edirisooriya and the NPC President Lt. Colonel Deepal Herath signed the agreement at the Sports Ministry Auditorium in the presence of Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.

Sri Lankan para athletes have performed well in the past while winning two Bronze Medals at the 2012 Games in London through Pradeep Sanjaya (400m) and Dinesh Herath (javelin throw).

In addition they were able to win 15 medals at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta in 2018.
