Former Sri Lankan cricketers paid their tribute to the late R. Rajamahendran, who passed away in Colombo yesterday. His funeral took place at the Borella cemetery.

The late R. Rajamahendran served as Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) in the early 1980s under late Minister Gamini Dissanayake.

Former Skipper Mahela Jayawardene said: “Really sad to hear the news. He was an ardent cricket fan who had a passion for the game.”

Former Skipper Sanath Jayasuriya said: “He has contributed so much for Sri Lanka cricket in his capacity as Vice-President in gaining ICC Test status for Sri Lanka and has supported many aspiring cricketers.”
