Rathgama M.O.H Division hailed as Galle’s first health zone to finish vaccination of those over 30 years

The first dose of Covid vaccine has been administered to all persons over 30 years of age residing in the Rathgama Medical Officer of Health Division, the Rathgama Medical Officer of Health (MOH) confirmed.

Accordingly Rathgama M.O.H. division has been identified as the first health zone of Galle District to complete the vaccination of the whole population over 30 years of age against Covid 19.

The first dose of Covid vaccine has been administered to 21,275 residents of all 31 Grama Niladhari Divisions of the MOH division. Rathgama health officials affirmed.

Moreover, the second dose of the vaccine too has been given to 2,214 residents of 2 Grama Niladhari Divisions. The first dose of the Covid vaccine was first given to people over 60 years of age and then to those over 30 years of age, the MOH further stated.

In addition, the first dose of the Covid vaccine has been given to those at risk over the age of 18, the medical officer said.

The MOH also stated that it was planned to give the Covid vaccine to the people in the fishery industry and those who have been missed out due to being engaged in other occupations at the Rathgama Hospital.
