Domestic’s death at former MP’s house: Police await post-mortem report

Police say they are to shortly receive the report of the post-mortem examination conducted by the three-member Special Judicial Medical Council on the death of a domestic at the house of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

Investigations have revealed that another 29-year-old woman has been allegedly sexually abused by the brother of Rishad Bathiudeen's wife.

Police investigations have revealed that 11 women who had been brought by the broker from the Dayagama area with the deceased girl from 2009 to date have been working in this house.

"It is said three of the women who had worked there had died, including the girl. Another died of cancer and another committed suicide after leaving the house," Police said.

The statements of the other eight women have been recorded by the police as of Sunday (01).

The person who gave the final statement has been referred for a medical examination after she claimed she too had been raped while working at the house.

It is reported that the woman had allegedly worked at the former Minister's house during the period 2009-2010 and after that she had gone to Dayagama and returned to work somewhere in the Kelaniya area.

The Police Spokesman further said she had been taken to the Borella house where the girl had died for investigations.
