Navy intercepts foreign vessel carrying large haul of heroin

A foreign fishing vessel carrying a large stock of heroin was seized by the Sri Lanka Navy with seven crew members onboard on seas South of Sri Lanka, said the Navy Spokesman.

Following a tip off received by the Sri Lanka Police, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to nab the foreign fishing vessels carrying narcotics.

The apprehended crew members and the fishing vessel were brought to the Port of Colombo and they will be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
