Four arrested for marking card and not taking COVID vaccine

Galle Police today arrested four persons, who were allegedly leaving the COVID-19 vaccination center at Galle Sangamitta Girls’ School with Vaccination Details Card marked without administering the vaccines.

The medical officials at the vaccination center had noticed that they were leaving the vaccination centre premises without taking the vaccines after marking the vaccine details card and subsequently they had informed the police on duty about the incident.

The police investigations revealed that the said two sisters had played the same stratagem in respect of the first dose of the vaccine on the 11th of last month at the same center and their father also had followed the same trick.

The male suspect had confessed the police that he refrained from administering the vaccine as he gets allergies after getting the vaccine and he had get the card marked without taking the vaccine to be produced in future requirements.

They will be prosecuted under the Section 276 of Sri Lanka Criminal Procedure Code under the charge of irresponsible behaviour leading for the spread of the pandemic, the Police stated.

Investigations are being carried out under directions of Galle Head Quarter Police OIC IP Kapila Senapatyhi De Silva
