Youth arrested for alleged sexual abuse

The Police Child and Women’s Bureau has arrested a youth for the alleged sexual abuse of a 5-year-old girl in Nugegoda.

The arrested person is a 20-year-old married man residing in a neighbouring house of the girl, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said. Police investigations have revealed that the man had allegedly sexually abused the minor girl, videotaped her and shared them with his friends on social media. The suspect has been produced before the court and a 72 hour detention order is obtained and further investigations are being carried out on the suspect. Police urge parents to always be vigilant about their children's safety.
