Two prison inmates do well at O/Ls

Two inmates at the Colombo Magazine Prison including a former LTTE cadre have passed the GCE Ordinary Level Examination 2020 with excellent grades.

A young suspect detained related to a crime has passed with three ‘A’ grades while the former LTTE cadre has passed the exam with three ‘B’ grades.

Commissioner General of Prisons (Administration and Rehabilitation) Chandana Ekanayake said that the achievement by the two inmates augurs well for the Department of Prisons’ rehabilitation process for the future betterment of prisoners.

Four inmates appeared for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination last year from Watareka and Magazine Prisons and the Sri Lanka Examinations Department set up examination centres for them at Magazine Prison and Watareka Sunitha School.
