Jehan Seelagama has foxed many opponents with his dazzling runs

Jehan Seelagama is a promising centre three quarter who represents St.Anthony’s College Kandy first fifteen rugby team.

His sensational style of play has earned him a spot to represent the Sri Lanka national Under 19 rugby team as well as the Sri Lankan national sevens and fifteen a side

rugby team with distinction.

At present Jehan represents the Air Force Sports Club in the “A” Division inter club rugby season. Speaking to Daily News Jehan said “My journey into the world of sports began when I was very young. I was always inspired by my parents. My mother was an athlete and my father has played rugby for Kingswood College. I think that is where my passion for the sport began”.

“A lot of people have supported me from day one. My mother, father, family members, school coaches . Suranga Kodituwakku, Milroy Mendis, Priyantha Gunaratne, Nalaka Weerakkody and Viper Gunarathne, club coaches Ronny Ibrahim (who actually got me into Sri Lanka Air Force rugby team ), Fijian Fereti Verebula, Suranga Arunashatha, my teammates and the whole list goes on’.

“Also I enjoy watching international rugby matches, doing fitness activities and listening to good music”. “Naturally I was influenced by my father, who was also a ruggerite. And I thought rugby would increase my self-confidence, build discipline and fitness”.

“Throughout my entire life my priorities are Self-improvement, healthy relationships and my life mission”.

“One of the most unforgettable memories was being selected to the under 18 Sri Lanka national 7’s Squad and unfortunately missing the tour due to an injury. And another one was being able to score a try against my home town club the Kandy Sports Club in the first year of the club career. Hence all these incidents will always be in my memory right throughout my life as one of the most unforgettable incidents to date”.

“During my leisure time I like playing video games, listening to good music and surfing on the internet. My favourite singer is Kasun Kalhara and my favourite song is ‘Off my face’ by Justin Bieber”.

“My favourite rugby player is Rieko Ioane from the All blacks and my favourite holiday destination is Nuwara Eliya for sure and ”. “Being able to wear the first XV jersey and representing my bellowed school St.Anthony’s College Kandy is my biggest accomplishment so far. Honestly speaking to date, I really cherish that moment”.

“If I were forcing myself to believe in anything, I’d be full of stress. Therefore, whatever I have faith in and put my effort on I believe”.. “Honestly speaking I always do not compare myself to anyone. Life is about improving.and getting better and getting ahead”.

“As a young man I’m so grateful and thankful for everything I’ve achieved so far at such a young age. There are achievements which make me want to jump and dance and shout and then there are the achievements which bring just a smile on my face. But at the end there’s always some happiness”. “On a concluding note Jehan said that he likes to describe himself as a friendly and ambitious person in life”.
