Slain War Hero Major General Janaka Perera and others remembered

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka participated in the religious observances at the Sarananda Pirivena in Anuradhapura held in remembrance of the late Major General Janaka Perera and 28 others who were assassinated by the LTTE in 2008.

Major General Perera, who was also an Opposition Leader of the North Central Provincial Council along with 28 other individuals were killed by an LTTE suicide bomber on October 6, 2008 during a ceremony to open Perera’s Office in Anuradhapura.

The religious observances were held marking 13 years of remembrance of the suicide bomb victims.

Chief Prelate of the Sarananda Pirivena, most Ven. Atabage Wimalagnana Thera conducted the religious observances and Parliamentarians, political representatives and the family members of the deceased were present.
