Farmers in a quandary over fertilizer - JVP

JVP Anuradhapura District Leader Wasantha Samarasinghe said farmers have been inconvenienced due to the lack of required fertilizer for chena and paddy cultivation during the Maha season.

He said that farmers have prepared the soil for crops such as corn, maize and pumpkins and are awaiting fertilizer. He made these comments at a media briefing held recently at Anuradhapura.

Samarasinghe said that the government is selling resources not only in Anuradhapura but in the entire country  “The government has already sold the Western Terminal of the Colombo harbour .

The Indian Foreign Secretary toured Trincomalee where the oil tank farm is located. “The purpose of his visit to take over the the oil tanks which were not officially handed over to India,” he said.
