Senul and Matheesha to represent Lanka junior table tennis team at ITTF

Senul Ratnayake and Matheesha Wickramanayake of Dharmaraja College, Kandy will represent Sri Lanka junior table tennis team at the ‘ITTF’ world junior table tennis tournament, which will be held from October 10 to13, 2021 in Muscat, Oman.

Meanwhile Old Rajan veteran TT coach Hasitha Samaraweera is the coach of both Senul and Matheesha as well. Senul Ratnayake is the youngest player of the junior national team and he is the current under 12 number one player in Sri Lanka who represented Sri Lanka at the international World Hopes Table Tennis qualification programme in 2021. This is a great achievement by these two young players as its almost after 13 years that two Dharmaraja College, Kandy players representing the Sri Lanka junior TT team. Matheesha Wickramanayake got through the O/Level exam with flying colours by obtaining 9, ‘A’ passes this year.

Incidentally Coach Hasitha Samaraweera who is also an Old Rajan is the son of Old Rajan and Retired Senior DIG Daya Samaraweera, while it’s also the first time that a Dharmaraja old boy TT coach is selected on tour with two Rajan players to participate in a Junior TT tournament oversees.

Eleven year old Senul Ratnayake is also the son of another Old Rajan Saman Ratnayake - who is an Attorney at Law cum Unofficial Magistrate.
