Ratmalana to host Maldivian Airlines from end November

Rewriting the history books of Sri Lanka aviation history, the nation’s first international airport Ratmalana will resume international flights to the Maldives from the end of November.

A team of officials from Nawaloka Aviation the GSA for the airline along with the Ministry of Aviation is currently in Maldives to discuss the frequencies with Maldivian airline officials.

It’s expected they will start with a 50 seater aircraft flying twice weekly and extend to a four flights per week schedule.

Maldivian, the national airline of the country, is the leading domestic carrier in the Maldives. Maldivian currently operates to India, Bangladesh, Thailand and China from its main hub at Velana International Airport. Maldivian is also the only operator in the country who offer both seaplane and wheelbase flights in Maldives.

The nation’s carrier today operates daily frequent flights to 16 airports within the country and offers competitive air transfers to all resorts in the Maldives. (SS)
