Suspects who attacked Police officers arrested

The two suspects who attacked two Police officers who went to investigate a clash that took place at a party held in Udappuwa, Kiriyankalliya, Sinnacolony have been taken into custody.

The Police officers who were stabbed were Officer-In-Charge of the Udappuwa Police Complaints Section Sub-Inspector of Police H. D. Gamini and Police Constable Pushpakumara.

The two Police officers who sustained severe injuries due to the attack were admitted to the Chilaw General Hospital.

This fight had taken place at about 10.30 on the night of October 10 at Kiriyankalliya, Sinnacolony at a farm.

“The family were having a party at the farm when two persons had come and attacked the owner of the farm and three others with knives, while causing damage to property,” the Police said.

Based on a phone call received by the Udappuwa Police on 119, the officers had gone to the scene in the night and made arrangements to hospitalize the injured and apprehend the suspects who had already fled the scene.

According to information received once more that another fight had broken out at the same place, two Police officers had visited the scene. When the two Police officers went on search for the two suspects, they were attacked by the suspects with a manna sustaining severe cut injuries. Five persons including the two Police officers who were injured in the attacks are receiving treatment at the Chilaw General Hospital. Udappuwa Police is investigating.
