Sumanthiran says willing to lead TNA

TNA Jaffna District Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said that after the leader of the Tamil National Alliance R. Sampanthan, he is most suitable and qualified to lead the party.

Sumanthiran also said that he is ready to accept the post and he exceeds the necessary qualifications to handle this responsibility.

Sumanthiran made these observations at a press briefing held yesterday (12).

“The TNA worked with the Government of Good Governance to find solutions to the problems of the Tamil people.

But nothing came of it. Sampanthan took the lead in this. But the people are not in the same position. They change from time to time. The good Governance Government collapsed. As a result of that collapse the TNA also suffered. The weaknesses of that government also affected our party. But by now the TNA has become very strong. Many accuse us politically of selling the problems of the Tamil people and gaining privileges from various Governments. But that does not happen. The party always stands for the welfare of the Tamil people. At present the leadership of the party is leading the party very well. Many acknowledge that I am fit to lead this party in the future. I am ready to accept that position,” MP Sumanthiran observed.
