Rugby legend Chandrishan passes away

Sri Lanka’s rugby legend Chandrishan Perera passed away while having treatment in a hospital in Negombo yesterday.

The late Chandrishan was a household name in Sri Lanka’s rugby circle and is a former Sri Lanka Captain, coach, fitness coach, journalist and commentator.

He was ailing for some time and was wheelchair bound due to a nerve compression with Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) organising a fundraising match at Havelock Park recently.

The late Chandrishan was known to be a dashing player at wing position, played domestic cricket and also went onto captain the winning team at the Fiji Sevens Tournament in 1994.
