Doctor seeks help

Padiyathalawa Hospital Medical Officer and former Medical Officer of Health , Padiyathalawa Dr. A.N.K. Attanayake has been diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis. He has been recommended an urgent liver transplant at the Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Centre in Chennai.

The cost for the surgery and post surgery medications has been estimated to cost Rs 12.5 million and he has to bear the expenses for a stay in Chennai for three months in the aftermath of the surgery.

Dr. Attanayake became the best Medical Officer in the Eastern Province in 2015 – 2016 and the Padiyathalawa District Hospital won the National Productivity Award in 2009 thanks to his enormous efforts to promote the healthcare services in the hospital

His daughter is studying in Grade 10 at Yashodara Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Bibila . He played a pivotal role in treating the injured soldiers in the humanitarian operations to free the Eastern Province from the clutches of the terrorists.

Dr. Attanayake has opened a COVID Intermediate Treatment Centre in the region amidst various obstacles for COVID patients.
