Man dies, child hurt in wall collapse

A wall collapsed on a 75-year-old man and his five-year-old grandson when they were sleeping at night, the Kurunegala Hospital Police Post said yesterday.

The man died instantly and his grandson was seriously injured.

The deceased is H.M. Muthubanda of Wellawa Warawala. The boy, Thilakarathna Bandar,a was admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The inquest was held by town coroner D.K. Amarasingha. Muthubanda’s wife H.E. Bandaramanike gave evidence at the inquest. The autopsy was conducted by DMO of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and death was recorded as due to shock and head injuries.
