Parliament condemns Sialkot lynching

Both Government and Opposition MPs on Saturday condemned the brutal murder of the Sri Lankan manager Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana in a Pakistani factory by an extremist mob in Sialkot in Pakistan.

Leader of the House and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on behalf of the Government expressed his condolence over the death.

Minister Gunawardena also said that the Government appreciated the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s intervention on overseeing the investigations into the murder and his stance to deal with the matter with full severity of the law. The Minister also urged the Speaker to take the matter to the attention of Pakistani Parliament through its Speaker in view to mete out justice to the victim and also to ensure safety of other Sri Lankan employees there.
