A beach cleaning campaign was launched under an initiative of Coast Conservation State Minister Mohan P. de Silva yesterday.
The beaches throughout the Province will be cleaned under the programme.
A large number of foreign tourists also took part in the campaign in Hikkaduwa on the first day.
Ambalangoda Police, Urawattha Buddhist Temple Dayaka Sabha, Hikkaduwa Urban Council, Fishery Unions, Sports Clubs and a number of voluntary groups participated.
