SLPP secures three more LG bodies

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the power of three Local Government institutions which were ruled by the United National Party (UNP) with the support of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), following the Local Government Elections 2018.

They are the Horowpathana Pradeshiya Sabha, Kahatagasdigiliya Pradeshiya Sabha and the Balangoda Urban Council.

The ruling UNP lost the vote on the Budget 2022 of these three Local Government bodies, causing the UNP to remove their Chairmen from the posts.

The SLFP which had earlier voted for the UNP candidates, had voted for the SLPP candidates at the voting for the new Chairmen held yesterday.
