No raw materials for Batik industry

A large number of families involved in the Batik industry in the Matale district have lost their jobs due to the lack of raw materials.

Entrepreneurs involved in the Batik industry in the Matale district said that more than 500 families involved in the industry are facing a loss of income as a result. In this regard, importers of raw materials said that the reason for the existing shortage of raw materials is that these imports have been stopped.

Entrepreneurs pointed out that at a time when the tourism industry is booming, the Government is losing a lot of revenue due to the collapse of local industries such as the Batik industry.
