Nethmi Malshani does Antonian Girls School proud

Eighteen year old, Nethmi Malshani Ratnayake, a student of Year 13 class in the Commerce Stream at St.Anthonys’ Girls School,Katugastota is a left hand, front line batswoman who started her cricket career under the coaching of level II cricket coach Susantha Basnayake,in the year 2015. She was a member of the winning School Cricket team at the Central Province Cricket tournament organized by the Dept. of Education.

Apart from that she represented her school at the Div.II Girls Schools Cricket Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association. She has also represented the School Cricket team under the captaincy of Sachini Dayaratne at the Provincial Girls’ Cricket tournament against Nuwara Eliya district and Girls School tournament match against Mahamaya Girls school in the year 2019 and 2020 respectively. At the ‘Big Match’ against Nugawela National School they won the game but due to Covid19 Epidemic they were prevented from playing matches for sometime.

Nethmi Malshani scored four half centuries so far at the Under Nineteen Girls Schools cricket Tournaments and her highest score was scoring a quick fire,Sixty Six runs with Fifteen fours against Mahamaya Girls School,Kandy played in the year 2022 at Rahula Grounds, Katugastota recently. In the year 2022 she was selected as the Captain of the School Cricket team and her intention is to play well to bring fame to her School in the future. She was selected to the Under 19 Development Squad of Sri Lanka Cricket and at present she is in the Under 19 Sri Lanka Squad.
