Suspect hospitalised with gunshot injuries

A suspected thief was admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital on Sunday with gunshot injuries after he was arrested by two constables from the Mount Lavinia Police who were on patrol on Sunday along the Galle Road.

The suspect armed with a knife had broken into a restaurant in the Mount Lavinia Police area threatening the employees of the restaurant. When the employees caught him, he somehow had escaped in a three wheeler.

The two Policemen had pursued the trishaw and arrested the suspect. However, he was involved in a fight with policemen and one of them had shot at the suspect in self-defence.
