Gihani Wathsala a Wushu player par excellence

Twenty Three year old .Gihani Wathsala, an old girl of Denzil Kobbekaduwa Vidyalaya,Galle

is a talented Wushu player who started the game of Wushu at the age of five years under the coaching of Jeewan Madhuranga of the Wushu Training Centre at Uragasmaha Junction. At the start in the year 2006 she won the Inter School Under Twelve Championship in the Galle District in the Chaquan event. In 2011 she was placed Second at the National Wushu contest and the first place was won by an Air-force woman competitor. In 2013 Gihani won three events and won Three Gold Medals for Charquan, Jianshu and Qianshu and she continued winning these events continuously every year in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

In the year 2019 she represented Sri Lanka at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu, Nepal and won a Silver Medal and apart from that she was adjudged the Best Wushu player at the National Sports Festival in three consecutive years, i.e. 2015. 2017 and 2019. Wushu is a Sport that is very popular abroad and her main intention is to improve her talent in the game of Wushu to become a World Class Wushu player.
