Sri Lanka lose to Indonesia 1/3

Asian Games Qualifier 2022 Hockey:

Sri Lanka lost to Indonesia (1/3) in their Asian Games Qualifier 2022 Hockey tournament match played in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday.

Sandaruwan Priya Lanka scored a solitary gold for the Sri Lanka team, however, with this defeat Sri Lanka couldn't enter the semi-finals. Bangladesh and Indonesia remain unbeaten so far and are qualified to play the semi-finals from Group B.

Oman and Uzbekistan are qualified to play in the semi-finals from Group A.

Regardless, Sri Lanka has a chance to book a slot for the Asian Games, if they win the fifth and sixth place. The matches will be played from today (14).

According to the former National Coach, Anuruddha Herath Bandara, Sri Lanka defeated Indonesia at the last 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, while they also beat Hong Kong to finish 9th out of 12 teams.

That was the best achievement made by Sri Lanka.

"Sri Lanka has a good chance to enter the Asian Games and they still have to finish 5 or 6 places", said coach Anuruddha.

Six teams will qualify for the Asian Games.
