Party Leaders to decide on cutting meals in House

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday announced that the possibillities of non provision of meals to Parliamentarians in future will be considered at the Party Leaders’ meeting.

He also announced that a group of 53 Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs have expressed their refusal to take meal from the Members’ Cafeteria in Parliament, in writing.The Speaker in his statement said that instructions will be given to authorities not to prepare meals for them.

He said that in a Party Leaders’ Meeting it would be discussed if this decision could be extended to all Parliamentarians as well.
