MP Johnston Fernando arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday to record his statement over May 9 incidents.
Fernando had spent around five hours at the CID before leaving the premises.
The CID summoned Fernando on Monday (23) to obtain a statement from him regarding the attack on the anti-government protesters at the Galle Face Green and outside Temple Trees on May 9. However, he did not report to the CID on Monday, but reported to the CID yesterday (24).
Meanwhile, a group of protesters from the Galle Face protest site staged a protest opposite the CID yesterday claiming that Johnston Fernando was responsible for the attack on the peaceful protesters at Galle Face on May 9.
They demanded that Johnston Fernando be arrested and legal action be taken against him.
