Private medical centres functioning with unskilled employees

The majority of employees attached to private medical centres in the Matale district are unskilled and patients who come to these clinics for medical treatment have to face high risks.

Most private medical centres are run by doctors attached to government hospitals and unskilled staff are being also employed by doctors to perform blood, urine and E.C.G tests.

In this connection, hospital officials said that nurses should perform the blood tests and not leave it to be done by unskilled staff.

Although patients are dissatisfied with the unskilled workforce at private medical centres run by the government doctors, they have no choice but to use these private medical centres.
