PM says possible to meet 50% demand of fuel for four months

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday said it would be possible to meet 50 percent of the demand for fuel and Gas in the coming months after obtaining another Credit Line from India to buy essentials. If the demand can be reduced to 50 percent he said both the fuel and LP Gas can be supplied continuously for four months.

“A ship with 3,500 metric tons of LP Gas arrived today (14). We prioritize institutions such as hospitals, hotels and crematoriums. After that it was decided to continue the supply of gas and fuel for four months. Continuity can only be granted if fifty percent of the existing demand is met.

The current stock can be used for seven days. It will take 14 days to secure these stocks. However we hope to get some more shipments sooner,” he said yesterday making a statement to the media.
