Army officer assaults cop at Warakapola fuel station

A brawl was reported between a Police officer and a Army officer at a fuel station in Dummaladeniya in Warakapola.

The incident occurred following an argument between the Police officer and the Army officer escalating into a brawl at the fuel station.

Video footage captured on CCTV camera at the fuel station shows the Army officer assaulting the Police officer following the argument.

Several others at the fuel station were seen intervening and separating the two.

The Police officer who had sustained injuries in the incident is receiving treatment at the Warakapola Hospital.

The Army officer was arrested by the Police in connection with the incident and was produced before the Warakapola Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
